All 11 songs were recorded at a studio on a 2000 Summer night in Topanga Canyon, CA. The studio recording was missing for over 20 years, until recovered in December 2021. David sings and plays his 12-string guitar, A Night In The Canyon is full of intimate performances that includes six originals intertwined with five cover songs.

The song shows a sense of craft one would expect from Paul Simon or Todd Rundgren. "Someday Will Bring Our Love Home" mirrors the arrangement from Tommy's original demo before Private Eyes.
